Webinar: An Equitable Phaseout of Fossil Fuel Extraction
The Civil Society Equity Review published a report at COP28, entitled “An Equitable Phase Out of Fossil Fuel Extraction.” For the first time, the report quantifies what fairness means, in terms of both differentiated phaseout timelines, and the international support and finance a phaseout would require for lower-capacity countries.
On March 13, we held two webinars (to accommodate different time zones) to discuss the findings. We presented an overview of our approach and the results for key countries, and answered questions. Most importantly, we had insightful discussions with participants about whether (and how) this analysis works in your context, and how it can be improved, with the aim is to draw together feedback from across civil society, to help shape the next iteration of the framework.
Below, we are sharing the recordings of the presentations of both webinars, one given by Dr. Sivan Kartha and one but Greg Muttitt, both members of the core writing team of the report.
